KMS Students Shine at English Festival

7th and 8th grade Knoch Middle School students participated in the English Festival grades 7-12 competition at LaRoche University recently.  Both teams won the competition called "Insights" where they are given a prompt from one of the 6 novels they read and have 5 minutes to prepare an oral presentation.  The teams were Ava Tirk, Abby Markewicz, Abigail Ceborello, Sarah Edder and a team of Jack McCool, Camden Christie, and Josie Graper.
The teams also heard a presentation from author, Marie Benedict.  She is from Pittsburgh and specializes in writing about little-known, but very important, women from history.  Marie talked about her inspiration for writing Carnegie's Maid, one of the books in the competition.
